How the box-photo import works

Features

Photograph your boxes, then add them one by one

Upload up to 50 photos of LEGO® set boxes at once, let BrickDb read each set number, and confirm every copy before it joins your collection.

Choose up to 50 photos of set boxes at once. Each one is stored straight away and waits in a queue on the import page. For each photo, BrickDb can read the set number printed on the box; you check it, or type it in, and open the same form you use to add a set by hand. Nothing is added to your collection until you confirm it there, and the photo then becomes the copy's picture. A photo you do not want is discarded. Every photo passes an automatic check before it is kept, and none is shown to the public.

How do I add many LEGO sets to my collection at once?

Photograph your boxes so that the set number on each can be read, and upload up to 50 photos at once on the import page. Then work through the queue: have each photo read, check the set number and choose "Review and add". The form is the one you know from adding a set by hand, so you record its condition and price as usual. When the queue is empty, upload the next photos.

Does the box-photo import add anything without asking me?

No. Uploading stores a photo and nothing else. A copy is added only when you confirm it in the add form, for the set you checked, and the photo is then attached to that copy. A set number that could not be read is typed in by you, and a photo you discard is removed from the queue.

Who it is for

For collectors starting out with a shelf full of boxes who would rather take photos than type in set numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Can BrickDb read set numbers from photos of LEGO® boxes?

Yes. In the box-photo import BrickDb reads the set number printed on each box, and you check it before anything is added.

How many box photos can I upload at once?

Up to 50 at a time. Work through them, then upload the next ones.

Are my imported box photos public?

No. They wait in a queue only you see, and once added a photo belongs to the copy in your collection. A published collection never shows photos.
